Have a Core 2 Duo at 1.86Ghz

Qustions:
Can I upgrade the processor speed? If so what exactly am I asking for when i go to buy the upgrade?

I have W7 64bit installed. If i add the proc upgrade chip will i have to reinstall the OS?

I looked again and again and the 45nm will simply not work like i said in my last post i was wrong got confused with intels messed up processor list one list shows an E6600 as a 65nm then a whole diffrent list shows a 45 nm but with same E6600 model number.

so what will work

So am I SOL

no you can find a used processor around i linked the one from ebay that will work it has to be the older conroe E6600 that will work when searching for it make sure its 65 nm and 1066 fsb another cpu that will work is the Q6600 which is the quad core look for them on ebay or craigslist.

someone at tigerdirect told me about a Q6700 at 2.66ghz they said was 1066MHz at 65nm, is this a viable chip
