Delta 1010 and new PC

Hello,
I recently purchased a new computer with only PCI-e slots available and I own an older Delta 1010 audio recording card. Is it a better idea or will there be any benefit to trading the card up for a PCI-e card or finding a converter to go PCI-e to PCI? Will the conversion cause any loss of quality, and would I be getting a faster card if I changed it to the PCI-e version?

It seems strange that your pc has no PCI slots, since complete phasing out of PCI doesn't start until Sandy Bridge.
Could you provide us with a link to your desktop? Or atleast mention the motherboard make?
Also as dogman_1234 mentioned, there is no converter as such. I've found mention of a PCI to USB adaptor on other forums, but nothing concrete.

The Delta 1010 is an old sound card (10+ years) so returning it is not an option for me. In fact, the whole reason I bought a desktop and not a laptop was because of this sound card! Before jumping to any conclusions for getting a new device, let me show you these two links:

Hopefully this gives more clues as to why I need this adapter solution!

Hello, and welcome to the Forum.

First off, this is new to me... a PCI converter? What you need to do is get another card that IS PCI-e ready. Sorry. If you kept the receipt and is not open yet,( or man-handeled), return it for a refund and get one that is PCI-e ready.

Well then it seems you've solved the problem on your own. Although I seriously doubt the ability of the soundcard to fit in over that adapter. Also I wonder how its output slots would be accessible from the back panel.

The adapter you linked is PCI-E to PCI not PCI to PCI-E

So? He could place the adapter into a PCIe slot, then fit the PCI card into it.
My doubt it, how will he access the sound card's audio ports from the motherboard's back panel (since they no longer would align in the original back panel opening)?
