Try to think of a way to make FPS playable without analog sticks assuming you're using a controller like the PS1 controller before it had the analog sticks and became the first dualshock.

In case you don't know, a PS1 controller has a: 4 way d-pad , 4 buttons, + Shoulder buttons, R1,R2,L1,L2.

Start + select

D-pad movement, right buttons aiming, your choice of shoulder buttons for aiming, firing, weapon swap and grenade. The game would also need an auto jump/vault feature where you jump when you get to a gap or vault over a low wall you walk into.

Coded arms for the PSP had the right button aiming, many RPGs had auto jump in them, especially around the ps1-2.

Might I ask what the point of this is? Do you have a pre dual shock controller laying around that you plan to modify to run of USB or something?

You could also have the weapon select on select or in the pause menu to make room for grenade and melee on shoulder buttons. Or if you don't want grenade/melee you could have those be sprint and jump, or any 2 features you feel are important.
