Desktop can't connect to wireless devices on the same network

We just recently changed modems, before we were using Aztech5018-2D883, which was provided to us by our ISP. Now we are using a model with this number: AN5506-04-FA. This was provided by the same ISP as we changed our plan from vDSL to FIBER (required according to them)

We have a wireless printer, CANON MX410. And using our old modem, i can print from my PC to the printer directly. Now, using my PC, i can't detect any of the wireless devices we have at home. Not even SHARE-IT app from phone to PC, nor our smart TV (Before i can view our pictures directly from my PC to TV), nor any network that uses wireless.

When i used SHARE-IT, it says that the PC is on a different network? can someone pleas help me fix, i badly need that printer. And no, i can't connect the printer directly to my desktop as it's in another room and other people uses it also.

It does sound like your Ethernet and WiFi devices are on different networks. If I was to guess, my first thought is the Aztech used one network, say 192.168.0.x and your new modem is using a different one, like 192.168.1.x. Some devices on the network get the information of the change and some didn't (especially likely if you had a very high DHCP lease time). This could be verified by looking up the IP address on you computer and your printer. The easiest way to have them get a new IP address is to restart them.

The only thing that would stop the restart from working is if the IP address had been manually assigned on one of your devices (PC maybe). Let us know what you find out.

Some WiFi routers isolate devices on the WiFi network so they can see only themselves and the Internet. This is a security measure to prevent someone who manages to hack into your WiFi from playing around with other devices on your LAN. Some WiFi guest networks are implemented this way (you can tell because the guest WiFi DHCP gives you IP addresses in the same subnet as your regular LAN).

Check your printer's WiFi IP address. If it's in the same subnet as the computer you're trying to print from (e.g. 192.168.1.x), then the router probably has isolation enabled. Look in the router's wireless settings for something called isolation or client isolation, and disable it. (Be careful about using a guest network if you do this - confirm the router is giving guest devices an IP address in a different subnet. Though any router with a decent implementation should always have client isolation enabled for the guest network.)

So good news. Your computer and printer are on the same network. From the computer you should be able to ping the printer ("ping 192.168.254.105" from a command prompt). This should not fail, but if it does there is something strange going on.

Solandri is right that some modems offer a way to isolate the wifi from Ethernet, but I read what I believe to be the manual for your modem twice and I found nothing about that. The firewall does not even offer LAN->LAN filtering. There is a possibility that you have a custom firmware from your ISP and it has features that are not covered in the generic manual.

Let us know if you can ping the printer. If it fails ... start by turning the computer, printer, and then modem off and then turn them on in this order ... modem, computer, printer. I'll cross my fingers.

Ping is TIMED OUT.

Tried the turning off order. nothing changed. All wireless networks still can't be detected by my Desktop PC. I also merged all "network". I am seriously stuck as to how to resolve this.

With the ping timing out you have a routing issue with the router. I wonder if I am looking at the correct manual. Do you have a link to your owner's manual?

If your priority is a solution vs finding the problem, the solution would be using the ISP provided router only as a modem and using your own router for LAN and WiFi. Of course that would cost money.

Sadly, i dont have a separate router. And i would prefer finding a solution because, it kinda leaves a bad aftertaste not being able to fix it

AN5506-04-FA
Code: M550604F001A Version A

I did some reading and found this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Philippines/comments/3ueo26/pldt_home_fibr_network_issue_an550604f_router/

It seems to be a limitation of the router. There was some discussion about a super admin login, but it was in another language so I didn't understand it.

Another post claimed that turning off the firewall allowed the LAN and WLAN to talk to each other.

Another solution might be a WiFi card for the computer (not a fix, but a work around).

I would also ask your ISP about a firmware upgrade because this sounds like an issue with the software of the router.

I also find this weird, the ROUTER MODEL is for PLDT (ISP), but my current ISP is GLOBE. Regarding the Reddit post, it seems like it was not resolved either.

I also called our ISP and they have no solution for it. They are going here to replace the Modem later. If not, i might need to get an IT-Network specialist already.

Also what is this "Super admin" you are talking about? With it allow me to see options i can't normally have access to? If so, how do i get in?
