Question Desktop CPUs in gaming laptops

Around a year ago I discovered that some laptop websites offered the possibility to configure gaming laptops with desktop processors: Intel i7-6700K, Intel i7-7700K, Intel i7-8700K, Intel i7-9700K, Intel I9-9900K. Such websites are: Eurocom, Pc Specialist, Eluktronics, Sager, Origin. As an example, this is a configuration from Pc Specialist with the desktop CPU i7-8700K

What do you think about these desktop CPUs into gaming laptops? Do they have the same performance as a desktop computer? If not, do they still have reliable and good performance?

Desktop CPUs have better performance than laptop equivalents, but with one major limitation: Thermals.
Desktop CPUs consume more power and put out more heat than laptop equivalents.

Usually, when a desktop CPU is used in a laptop the temperatures become a major issue. The Alienware Area 51 has a socketed I9 9900k desktop CPU within. The CPU gets soo hot it thermal throttles and slows performance to avoid damage. Reliability and performance suffer. Performance is still usually better than a non throttling mobile chip, but not much.

Thank you for your explanation. Do you think that for a gaming laptop there is a big difference in performance between i7-8750H and i7-8700K?

ok, but you are comparing a laptop CPU i7-8750H with a desktop CPU i7-8700K. I mean, in theory this CPU i7-8700K in a laptop would have worse performance than in a desktop so I guess that the difference would be less than this benchmark?

Likely. If the laptop cooler insanely well designed and the cpu was liquid meteled, the cpu wouldnt throttle. If the cpu didnt throttle, the percentage wouldnt be much different.
Keep in mind that userbenchmark takes overclocked performance into concideration, something not going to happen much in a laptop, so the difference may be smaller aswell.
