Hi all,

I'm looking for a decent build for gaming and particularly for VR.

It'll be mostly to play simulation games (Project Cars, Assetto Corsa, Digital Combat Simulator, Rise of Flight, FSX), and to experience some of the cool VR games out there as well as RTS (total war, wargame series) and open-worlds

So I was looking for a nice 7700K + GTX1080ti:

PCPartPicker part list

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($343.22 @ OutletPC)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler ($89.88 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI Z270 SLI PLUS ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($132.35 @ OutletPC)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($119.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital Blue 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($89.49 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($48.89 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB Founders Edition Video Card ($698.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: Corsair 300R ATX Mid Tower Case ($64.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: Deepcool 750W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply ($74.99 @ Newegg)
Monitor: LG 29UB55-B 29.0" 2560x1080 60Hz Monitor ($242.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $1905.78

Any thought/advice?
Is there any incompatibility there, especially with the cooler? Do you think it's going to be OK with the RAM, the case, and the GPU? Would that build be easily upgradable in case I want to go SLI in the future?

Do you have a good monitor to recommend? (I don't play fast FPS)
Apparently wide screens are really nice for gaming, so I wanted to try but nothing set in stone.

Thanks for your help!

The thing is that in the future 4k monitors will be the thing but they are still kind of expensive and I am not willing to invest 500$ more for that, especially since I'm going to buy a VR headset, WQHD are nice but it's more like a compromise instead of a lasting investment, so I think I'd rather go with cheaper option now and upgrade later on, unless I can find a nice wqhd monitor for around 350$

Solution
The motherboard comes with loads of connectivity options and features like bluetooth and wifi. Also very good for overclocking.
The Noctua Unit is great but looks ugly. This Cryorig unit is equally good and looks much better.
Better monitor/psu.
