So this generally always happens but I'd really like to understand why and what i can do about it.
I assembled my desktop about 5-6 months ago and I used to get respectable 34-45 fps on assassin's creed 4 on the graphical settings I had. Now the max I get is 35 and it mostly stays at 25 going down to the 10s at times. I assumed I had too many programs installed or something and cleaned out anything i didn't need and also cleaned out my desktop completely. I've also cleaned the inside of my case regularly. Does hardware just get gradually slower or is there something i'm doing wrong?

Other than a couple of stuff that came with the motherboard and antivirus no.. but they were all there to begin with so there's no reason for them to affect gaming performance. I installed Tuneup then read horrible reviews of it and uninstalled it immediately after. I made the ccleaner registry check and things haven't gotten better.
