Desktop will not power up

Last week I started experiencing random shutdowns so thinking it may be an issues with my PSU I decided to swap it with my spare. The pc would not power up after swapping PSU's so thinking that I fried my mobo I ordered an identical one. I installed it using my anti-static bracelet and still have the same issue. There is no indication of the pc turning on, fans won't spin no LED nothing...
I tested the PSU's with the paperclip method and they are both working good. I also read the troubleshooting threads on this forum

I took it to a computer shop today and the guy looked at it and said it has to be a grounding issue and that the guy who deals with this won't be back until Monday. Any help is appreciated and I'm even willing to pay someone (Paypal) to help me get it going by today/tomorrow

The first item to check is whether the 8-pins CPU power connector is plugged in. Also, check whether the ON/OFF switch on the PSU is turned ON?

Your system specs, please...

Did you also try to power it on by using the short circuit method on the mobo's 2 power button pins instead of your case's button? Could be as simple as a derpy button.

Also, for how long has your system lasted until last week?

EDIT: Ubrales, I think that's pretty obvious. ._. Afterall, he even RMA'd his board and tried 2 PSU's...

Yes I checked everything ad also read the troubleshooting guide here

No I have no heard of that method. I will try that!

Well a few months ago I had some random shutdowns but it stopped after I kept my pc off for about 24 hours. I tried the same thing and kept getting the shutdowns regardless of what I did.

600W Corsair PSU
GigaByte GA-78LMT-S2P Mobo
Raedon 9870 Graphics Card
AMD Processor
2 (4gb)sticks of RAM (8gb total)
HDD 500GB
Windos 7 Ultimate OS

Just unplugged the POWER plug from he F Panel and shorted it with a screw drier and nothing happened.

The only thing that happens when I plug it in is that the red LED will stay lit (it usually blinks). It will stay lit weather the power switch is on or off

This means that the motherboard is bad.

I don't see how it could be bad though?? I had his issue when swapped PSU's and then I ordered a new mobo (identical) and used an anti-static bracelet while installing the new one

If there is one bad component on the production line, then the entire batch of motherboard will be defective and could slip past inspection. Not common but can happen.

Yeah but what are the odds that neither mobo works after swapping the first psu?

I really can't afford to buy another mobo to test if this theory is true. Any other suggestions?

This board does not have voltage test pads like some high end enthusiast boards. So, that is not an option.

It is possible to 'bread board' this and connect the basics to it and apply power and check the results.

More concrete specs, please... processor model, 32/64 bits OS, which PSU, etc. Also, Radeon 9870? Do you mean HD7870 or HD6870?

Maybe it needs a BIOS update to support your CPU? That's why I need your exact specs.
