Hi,

Yesterday problems started with the CPU constantly working at >= 20% even when no applications are open. It's the program dwm.exe (desktop window manager) that constantly has a high CPU load. Wondering why and if you have any tips on what might be causing this?

Have tried this without success:
- Removed all the visual effects in System Options> Advanced> Performance Options> Visual Effects.
- Made virus scan.
- Closed antivirus software.
- Checked that Logitech SetPoint is not installed (as many others have reported that this program caused problems with dwm.exe).

Computer: ASUS X550J with Windows 10 Home.

Grateful for tips! =)

I had the same problem. I was getting BSOD and dwm.exe high cpu and memory usage. Turns out it was a lot of malware that installed itself and edited my registry. I used MBAM and roguekiller to remove it all in safe mode.Trying to remove it in normal mode caused BSOD.So make sure you use safe mode. Now the malware is entirely gone. Also check both your program files and make sure all your installed programs are accounted for. I had a program I never installed on my computer. Now my windows 10 is back to new and all those problems are gone after removing the malware.

So you want to make sure it isn't malware.
Yep have tried to rollback the graphics drivers and also installed the latest beta driver..same result =(

Ironsounds: CPU is working at around 20% even if Windows is "idle".

Hi, thx for your reply. I've now added a image to the post.

I think I've found which services that caused the problem. I inactivated these services and the CPU load went down =)

Skype Updater
Google Update (gupdate)
Google Update (gupdatem)
