I hope someone can help me. I have a Gateway NE522 laptop I got as a gift. It's very minimal as far as components go. I'd like to increase processing speed. I'll b switching to an SSD soon. But I think a faster CPU would help a great deal. Problem is my current motherboard doesn't have a replaceable CPU (from what I'm told). So what I'm looking for is a recommendation from someone out there that knows more about hardware than I do (which isn't a very high bar).

I'm a disabled veteran with few resources in this regard. I can't afford a new laptop, so I'm looking to upgrade the CPU and motherboard & ? instead. I'm not a gamer. I'm just a web surfer, email. video streaming kinda guy.

I'll provide specifics as to what I currently have ... any help/recommendations are appreciated.

Hopefully that's enough to work with.

You probably can't upgrade your motherboard. Laptops, unlike desktops, don't use standardized motherboards. The BEST you could hope for is that Gateway sold that same laptop with multiple CPU configurations and that you could find the motherboard from one of those. But it is unlikely you will get an upgrade.

I do not think that you can upgrade motherboard. Even if you can probably is way better to assemble new PC. People can help you find LOW budget rigs that are way better than this laptop. You should just give your planed budget or what with you are comfortable with. Country you are from

Also my recommendation would be that you try buy used parts instead of new. that way you can pass 20-50% cheaper depending on parts.

KANEWOLF .... OR ANYBODY ... Is this motherboard I found an upgrade from mine, or not worth it?
