I bought my 2600X for 150 Euro, now the new 5600X is 310? Damn!

Care to comment on the following...
  1. Let us know WHEN you purchased the 2600X for 150 Euro
  2. Remind us the LAUNCH price of the 2600X
  3. " the new 5600X is 310? Damn!" --> is this a LAUNCH price??
  4. What happens to price as a CPU extends it's life...particularly on imminent release of a new release?
  5. Remind us the benefits of the 5600X over the 2600X...e.g. any IPC gain with the 5600X? anything else??
  6. Finally, care to comment of Intel's CPU pricing before Zen1, and particularly Zen2 ?? - what would you be paying and how many cores would you be getting from Intel if Zen CPU's were never released?

The article says that the VAT in Germany is 19%. That would normally be correct, but it has been temporarily reduced to 16% until the end of the year as a part of a stimulus package in response to the pandemic.

Yes, they are most expensive than before, but cheaper, faster and more energy efficient than the corresponding Intel alternatives.
As an example, the Ryzen 3900X costs $549 and the Intel i9-920X (12/24 core/threads) is $649.

Unless you are in a real rush or you have lots of money to throw away, no one should ever buy any PC component at soon as they arrive to the shops (CPU, GPU, it doesn't matter).

Also if you were AMD, with a new product that should beat the competition on almost every task including gaming, Why on earth will you sell the new product for cheap?

The Ryzen 7 1800X had a launch price of $499, while the Ryzen 7 5800X should be at $449, and the 5800X should be way faster than the Ryzen 7 1800X, I do not see anything wrong here.

Just because you were the underdog does not mean you have to keep acting like one when you have the best product (at least in theory and according to AMD)

I would say people have seemed to forgotten AMD did this back when Athlon 64 was king.

But that was over 15 years ago now. I'm sure those "people" I'm addressing had no idea who Intel or AMD were.

You got that 2600X at lower price. It was 230USD MSRP and in Europe, I am not sure if it wasn't more bit more. But yeah, it dropped relatively quickly. So before Zen2, 2600 and 2600X were value champions. And Zen2 did bit of price increase on 3600X, I think it was 250USD MSRP. Though there was no point in getting X over 200USD MSRP 3600. But basically as is, if you want cheap, get 3600. If you want to get newest, wait for next year when 5600 comes, if it will be anything like previous stuff, it will be better value. Or buy late in generation once prices drop. Provided new chips will follow same trends. Like 2600 went from being like 200USD chip to being like 120USD at some point. And 3600 also went from 200USD to like 170USD as well. But yeah, AMD is seemingly on top now and they will charge appropriately, since they don't need to rely so heavily on being budget king.

I would imagine the exact same issue that we have seen with the Nvidia 3080 launch, no "real" person will be able to buy a new 5000 processor, as Bots will buy them all up, and then they be listed om auction sites for double MRSP. What burns me the most is, most e-Retail stores could car less about Bots buying they entire inventory. There are quite few options to stop / thwart Bots, but retailers don't seem to really care, or want to implement them.
