Hello,

I was contacted by a friend that owns a marketing business with a partner, he is tech illiterate, and to keep the story short, he found out that his partner is slowly creating a new office and stealing their business clients, and yes, his partner is the one who usually maintain (my friend's) personal laptop.

Now is there any software that can detect any (spyware -or- monitoring software) that maybe installed on his laptop? I am looking for a software solution because manually going through the process of checking his laptop on the phone will be extremely difficult.

Kind Regards

You need to contact a local PC professional, and have them investigate.

It is near impossible for us out here to lead you and him through any valid investigation.

Who "owns" the laptop....your friend, or the company?

It is his personal laptop, he bought it and paid for it, and he -owns- the marketing office with his (in question) partner.
The problem is he is tech illiterate, and afraid to go to a pc tech specialist he doesn't know and asked me for help and I will have to spend allot of time on the phone with him to manually check it since he is located in another city.

And thats even worse.

Us, trying to talk you through talking him through the process.

Things WILL get lost along the way.

Alternate solutions:
Obtain a new laptop, and stat using that.

Or, a full wipe and reinstall on the existing system.
(not a simple reset)

If it is suspected compromised, I wouldn't trust it even if *I* had it in my hands and did some deep investigation and cleanup.
You never really know.

And your friend should quietly seek legal advice regarding his responsibilities and liabilities if his business partner is up to no good.

A compromised laptop may be the least of your friend's worries.
Yes, and and his laptop is a nice evidence.
