device has been dead a year any hope of reviving it?

i have a first gen ipod touch. when i got a smart phone it rendered the device pretty much obsolete and since the charger was broken i didn't bother with it anymore. when i last used the ipod it had some battery left and i assume it just ran out and died. that was around 8 months to a year ago. now im considering buying a charger for it to play music in my car. Will the device work properly and take a charge after almost a year of being dead? The ipod is in good shape and apart from being dead that long it has nothing wrong with it

Yes it should work fine lithium battery's don't tend to just die from being flattened unlike lead acid battery's used in cars

They do drain when hooked up to anything with a standby mode. Should recharge if the battery controller still thinks it is good. Only way to know is to try it.

Might try taking it to an Apple store and see if they have a charger to test with before buying.

When your devices die, they still have very small traces of power inside the battery, which is why devices can let you know they are dead, if your iPod died, it will use a bit of the remaining power inside the battery to show the screen that its dead. Although, the battery does run out completely overtime.

You can still charge the device, you should be able to.
Before buying a charger, go to an Apple store and see if they have the charger that fits for your first gen iPod and see if it works before going ahead and purchasing a charger. If it works, you may proceed to getting a charger. It should still work.
