If you are a leech, go leech some torrent, don't say it here or ur just gonna get flamed by those who think that pay for a game is something that make you better then those who don't pay for games, music, tv shows, software, movies and prety much any media thats avaible... like me =) I'm not paying sh*t!! I already pay for my internet connection, if I wanna support some one, Im not paying for media, I'll pay for something real, like shows, t-shirts, books, or anything that I wanna keep or experience, not for something that I'll get for like a week or a day, or even two hours like movies, and then never watch, read or play it again! And for you newbies, there is a cracked version on torrent websites of Diablo III since day 2 =)

[citation][nom]Lian[/nom]I bought the game, not happy. Having a shaped wireless connection, I cant play during the week unless I'm happy with 1000+ms latency. Weekends I have 300 - 400ms.I will download the crack and / or use private servers when it becomes available. I see nothing wrong with it as Bliz has my money already. All I want is a good gaming experience. Impossible for me right now.Have played WoW before for a while. Had my account hacked once, found out before they really did any damage. Wow is a MMO so its to be expected. Luckily havent had my D3 game hacked, but I would be sooooo pissed off if my single player game got hacked. That is just plain stupid.I really hope something happens so that Bliz regrets the day they ever decided on this DRM BS...[/citation]

You can't play Diablo 3 because of your connection, yet you played WoW?

[citation][nom]hotsacoman[/nom]It used to be that in the past when a game was released, it was pretty much done. Never had any problems with Doom, Duke 3d, Quake, Unreal or any of the great shareware games of the day, even without their patches. Now its obligatory to wait for the players to do ALL the testing for the game and MAYBE 3 - 4 patches later, the game will work as it should. I'm never buying games on launch day ever again.[/citation]

you forget how bad technical support was back than, and how you were required to have very specific hardware to get a game to work.

[citation][nom]DroKing[/nom]Lol... Already? Gee I thought Blizzard cared so much for their customers (consumers in their eyes) eh? I knew Blizzard were full of shit and that always online is just DRM not a actual security measure. What a way to protect your customer's data with a shitty DRM.[/citation]

well, most people have their security question their cat, or something else, and most people also have a facebook account, i would like to say that if you post infromation on the internet i can find your real name, other accounts of yorus and if i really did, who you are, where you live, and possibly an ip address. i have no doubt with very little searching you could find my name, im betting most people who got hacked, were "hacked" a long time ago, and people waited till they could cash in before they stepped in.

the way i see it, with all this early in the game bs that is happening, they stepped up their account wipeing so blizzard is to busy to deal with them, that way when reall auction house comes on, they can make a quick grand.

Bad news guys: a hack is probably not coming any time soon. I know, I've wanted something that will make my single-player actually single-player, but apparently Blizzard put some of the AI logic in the cloud to keep this from happening.

[citation][nom]frederico[/nom]You can't play Diablo 3 because of your connection, yet you played WoW?[/citation]
I used to play WoW, but when I lived in the UK, I live in South Africa now.

[citation][nom]yezster[/nom]Tsk Tsk Tsk!!! woh! this is supposed to be a game... that's what happens when we invest real money on virtual BS items...[/citation]
quoted for truth...

there should never be a "real money" auction house. looks like the always on connection didn't stop hackers at all. instead of duping we get thieves.

[citation][nom]gerchokas[/nom]"now I have a level 57 worthless and not able to progress"57 levels in a week???? The hacker did you a favor man, now i sugest a game called "Outside" - awesome MMORPG with no sever downtimes and completely FREE**fees may apply[/citation]
why must you put down people doing what they love? Is enjoying a fun game wrong in some way? Just because people don't all enjoy your way of life doesn't mean your life is the better way to live.

Go take your own advice and stop reading this forum if you are so into "outside".

Just want to point out...
if everyone hates this Always Online feature
... and the Gaming industry is WATCHING to decide if it is a viable trend

...then disconnects, hacking and mass customer unhappiness is in fact THE BEST THING!

I haven't even bought the stupid game, but I genuinely hope this always online crap does not catch on; or if it does, there are swift cracks for it so I can play my purchased games offline.

And yet Blizzard and the fanboy army it has argued this online only feature was a method to stop hackers. Instead now they have a problem where hackers are stealing in hopes of using the stolen good to make real money. The very auction house that was said going to stop cheating through gold buying/selling.

It will take a special kind of stupidity for even the most hardcore fan to step up in defense of this now.

But attacking the mobs outside seems to be glitched as it always sends overpowered aggro NPCs at me that beat me and throw me into a cell. I can't even start a new character in the mean time to wait until my character is released. The graphics are amazing though.

[citation][nom]amk-aka-Phantom[/nom]*Leech. And no, I don't see why people should "pay" for this crappy experience, no matter how much fun the game is. I checked: the game costs $70 in my area, while it costs $60 everywhere else. Why is that? Normally all the games are much cheaper here (got ME3 N7 Digital Deluxe Edition for $40 while it's $70 or so in US), and combined with all the issues, this is a no-deal for me. I will be sure to download the cracked version if it ever comes out, though, and see what's the hype about. And then if they drop the price to a decent point in my area and fix all the BS, I might even buy it.[/citation]
I don't know why it's so expensive in your area. Maybe you should ask the retailers. The company doesn't set retail price you know.

Games aren't real? Are you kidding me? Your economic awareness is so distorted you think that just because you can download something, there's no price to it? Data floating in the air has no physical form, thus it's worthless?

Well I regret to inform you you're incorrect. All that data took the time and effort of the developers to program into the game. They deserve to get paid, and a portion of your purchase is going to go to them eating. Do you work for free? Do you get food and housing handed to you? Making this or any other game takes manpower, YOU need to pay for their manpower.

"But the game sux, there's problems" So what? Don't play it if you don't like it. Bugs and exploits do not entitle you to play the game for free.

"No, I just want the offline version, I'm cracking it for that." Good to hear, I agree with you. There's nothing wrong with mods and cracks. Buy the game, then play the cracked version. Simple solution. You're still playing the game, you still need to pay for the experience. Even if you don't like a few aspects, you still enjoy MOST of the game, don't you?

"Pirating something will show the publishers that we hate them and force them to change" Yeah, it isn't going to happen. Pirating will not remove the industry fatcats. It only justifies their existance. When media developers question why they need an industry with high paid lawyers, the industry points to piracy. They'll continue to pay the lawyers, the CEOs will still take the same cut. The profits you're taking by pirating are the profits that would have gone towards future development. You aren't taking the lawyers or the CEOs money, you're taking the blue collar programmers paychecks.

Developers have to make a living, just like you do. Mark me down all you want, I hope you're proud of yourselves for taking people's paychecks. The only ones you aren't hurting are CEOs and lawyers. You want to play a game, you should have to pay something for it. Good things in life aren't free. Feel free to respond with an explanation of why you feel entitled to the hard work of a lot of people just because a few bad decisions are being made.

Those features they use to prevent cracking and piracy never work. The game will be cracked in a matter of days, like always. The only people those features are annoying are the honest people who bought the game, not the pirates.

piracy is not stealing fool, no one is depriving anyone of anything....they are simply copying it...they are saving the game company the expense of having to make the cd or bandwidth of the download, and people still get to enjoy their art...

Hey, why can't everybody just let me enjoy my childhood nostalgia?

You should probably think a bit more about what kinggraves said, or better yet, not say anything at all.

Why is everyone assuming this is Blizzard's fault? For all we know the players' PC's have been compromised with something such as a keylogger. There's not a lot Blizzard can do about that unless they went completely overboard on security.

The authenticator is NOT unhackable it is vulnerable to man in the middle and server hacking this has happened before in WoW now that diablo is live hackers will have a field day hacking accounts and this is done by gold selling outfits so they have an idea where to look.
Nothing is really safe in the cyber world there are all kinds of security exploits out there.

Blizzard's community managers (read: Bashiok) have issued several statements (not that I would expect Tom's to thoroughly research) in their forums about how ALL of these account compromises have been through traditional methods. These methods include trojans/email phishing scams/friends with passwords/etc. At the moment, there is nothing but rumor and speculation that suggests a super hack, developed by the legion of doom, is out there to grab your account and steal your axe of murder or ebony dyes.

I'd also like to point out that while the Blizzard Authenticator is not a fool-proof method to prevent your account from being compromised, it's absolutely going to protect you from almost every traditional method of account compromise. Beyond that, Blizzard also has SMS protection, where your text-enabled cellular device will be notified and requested for permission before making any account changes, or before any suspicious (read: chinese IP addresses/random computer logging into account) computers log into your account. But yeah, Blizzard is to blame for a few people's accounts being compromised.

how could you recommend that, there are other people out there

[citation][nom]Goldengoose[/nom]Damnit, turned up for work and just thinking about being hacked now[/citation]

From the reports it seems the hack requires you to be trying to play. You authenticate your client and the hackers take over from there. If you are logged off from the game you might be safe. I'm sure since you are also at work that you have a half a life and thus are not 50+ so you should be under their radar too. 😉

if the slowdown is coming from the WAN side then get a new ISP

if the slowdown is local (eg multiple people wanting to create a local/ offline copy of the entire youtube database), then you need to set up some QOS rules on your router (and possibly install the tomato firmware
