Diablo 3 stuttering

So I downloaded diablo 3, and I'm having a huge problem in "stuttering" where the game just frame skips and it's driving me insane. And the question is, can a older hard drive cause this? I'm buying a new one soon anyways, but I have newer equipment in my PC, EXCEPT for a hard drive. I bought corsair vengeance 4 4 gb sticks, i72600k to go along with a gtx 470 from last year. Im running over 60 fps at all times, but this skipping is driving me nuts. Can a hard drive cause this? I heard diablo is constantly retrieving information from the hard drive.

How old of a harddrive? I'm using a SATA 1.5 drive, a Seagate 7200.10. Not the speediest of drives, but I'm able to play D3 with no problem.

Try the Vsync option?

Thanks for the quick reply! And it's about maybe only 4 years old, but I'm also having of software problems too, that may or not be related to the hard drive. I keep getting random stop errors and windows update will not work on even a clean install. Even if it's not even closely related I'm trashing this hard drive for a new one. I have v sync on btw. . . I can't get on my computer by the way because I removed the thermal paste from the CPU, and a friend has my thermal paste -_-.

Memory_management, at first I thought it was the ram. But I ran memory diagnostics and no errors came up, I switched out all of my sticks too but I still got the same performance.

You have a 2600 so the memory controller is on your CPU and not the motherboard. Temps on the CPU? Do you have the voltages set correctly?

Not sure if OP ever figured out the issue, but I have been investigating this issue a ton and it's actually related to the CPU, all quadcore+ processors are struggling with D3.

I have Core I7 960, Nvidia GTX 670, 120GB SSD, 12GB Ram, I get the same horrible stuttering.

Not me. i5 750 and a GTX460. I play at 1080 just fine.

Same problem, I believe several people have this issue in D3 so I am pretty sure it is game related (other games play fine), running i5 2500k, 16gb ram and hd 7850 OC. Most of the tine it will just be jumping really fast from 57 58 59 60 fps and ocationally 130, this is unnoticeable, however at times randomly it will stutter pretty bad and i can see the game slowing down, when this happens te fps changes so fast between 40 and 70 that I can only see a white square almot where the fps is displayed, this only lasts for a couple of seconds and then back to normal.
