Hiya all,
I use a PC (win7) to monitor devices on our LAN.
When a device fails to respond and email is sent (via dialup ).
ie: dialup to the internet and send email. LAN connection does not have internet access.
don't ask but yes we should use the LAN to send email but for this particular setup we have been asked to only use dialup.
My problem is that as soon the dialup connection completes My PC's drops connection to the LAN ( via ethernet).
I need the LAN to stay connected when dialup is connected.
From reading up on this issue I think I need to create a persistent route ?
There is an option on the dialup connection to "use default gateway on remote network"
if I untick this option then The LAN no longer drops when dialup connection is made. However dialup connection then still fails to send email.
If I tick this option again then dialup email does send correctly but LAN Drops
any help please to get dialup and LAN working similtaneously.
I can provide route print output before and after dialup if needed.
