Did i bought the wrong cpu for gaming?

hi guys recently i bought the i7 4790k for $300 for gaming ...
because i didnt know the existene of the 4690k back then...
so what is the benefits of the 4790K in gaming and its future potential? please give me some consolation for buying it!!! and is 4790k the last cpu for socket 1150?

4790k is better in newer games that can use hyperthreading, also you can capture video game footage without much decrease in performance, it is a better CPU all around, it will last you much longer than a 4690k would.
