So some days ago I decided to overclock my GPU and CPU for the first time. I started with the CPU which all went fine i overclocked my fx8320 to 4.2GHz and of course did a stress test and it looked like it was pretty stable. So next I tried my GPU I also overclocked it, did some stress tests, and it looked fine to me.

Next I tried playing some games but after 1-2 hours the game crashed on me with a pure red screen, I was pretty scared because this was my first time overclocking so I set my GPU back to stock settings, and it all went fine. But the next day the crash happened again after 1-2 hours, so did I fry my GPU or not?

Solution
Is your CPU still overclocked.. Overclocks can many time case this kind of crashes.. be sure to put everything back to default and test it again... 😉
What GPU do you have? Could have screwed the graphics driver, try doing a clean reinstall.

Fried means totally dead. Sounds more like it's just unstable. Are you sure you reset the settings and applied it correctly?

I have the r9 290X, and yes I'm pretty sure I reset the settings

No i'll try that next hopefully it will fix The problem
