Did I pick the wrong memory for my needs?

Hi,

I recently bought this memory because I thought it was a good deal/after christmas sale. Little did I know prices would fall on the very best rams (argh).

Will this still be OK with the following build? I DO plan to overclock my processor and I was considering maybe overclocking other parts as well. Rig almost entirely for gaming.

Am I OK or should I return the ram, take the 15% restock hit as a learning lesson, and get something like Crucial Ballistix or the Tracer or whatever with better timing and overclock ability? Should I jsut go with it?

Looks great, but the 380W psu may be a bit smallish, unless you read a write-up on how low psu can power gtx, etc. go with Earthwatts 400W+. Keep in mind that overclocking requires more power.

Is the Patriot ram already bought? Keep it.

You just need to know the basic of overclocking. Look at your cpu specs:

1333 / 4 x 9 = 2997 or 3Ghz stock

Let's say your ram maxes out at 800mhz:

800 / 2 x 9 = 3.6ghz

It depends on your target overclock. If you're aiming for 4+ ghz:

4000 / 9 = 444.44444444444444444444444444444 x 2 or 889mhz

You might be able to get 89mhz overclock out of the ram. If I were to buy ram, I'd buy the fastest I could afford to get the highest o/c. Even then, the Freezer will be the limiting factor. Get something bigger & better like Big Typhoon or U120E.

For the 8800GT a minumum of 400 watts 26 amps on the +12v rail. If you go below this then your PSU won't last long working at 100% all the time.
