Hey Guys,
So I've been having a lot of issues with my CPU ever since I received it (It's a 2700X.) Chiefly, I've been having some ridiculous thermals with it, along with some crashing issues. I didn't start noticing the thermals until around a month ago (because I didn't have any software downloaded, nor was I looking at the temps), which is outside of Amazon's return policy window. The temps (at least Tdie/CpuDiode) remain ridiculously high, regardless of what cooler/orientation I use. For example, I actually ended up achieving LOWER TEMPS with the stock Prism cooler vs. My NH-D14 (92 C vs (96 C). I have verified pretty much everything: Reseated the cooler multiple times, reapplied thermal paste using different compounds, tried different PSU's etc. etc. I can confirm that throttling does occur, given that resource monitor displays 89% max frequency immediately after I start AIDA64.
The only thing I can think of is that, as someone in one of the threads I started suggested, I could've received a faulty CPU, whose IHS was soldered on incorrectly. My questions are as follows:
Do you think I have a viable case for warranty?
Is there anything I can do to demonstrate that I have a defective CPU?
What should I do from here on out?
I really need some opinions on this, so all help is appreciated. I DO have all the necessary information for putting the chip under warranty, just fyi.
Thanks,
Noah
