Did Neweg hire a mob of fresh grad MBAs??

That question is more or less, tongue in cheek. What I do know is that after several years of Newegg orders and satisfaction - it ain't the same no more!
I set up a small order - some $200+ - and went to check out. I have been a Premier member for at least 6 months - and that option was not included in my shipping options. I also have often used Shoprunner at Newegg in the past; that option no longer appears either.
So I took the time to check my account and indeed I was a Premier member - renewing mid year 2017 so that should have appeared on my shipping option.
Long story short - I placed the order in my wish list - signed off - shut down IE, restarted IE and back to Newegg. Ha, my order was still in my cart - and I had signed in and verified my account. I still saw no shipping options other than standard(forever and a day), and increasingly prohibitive cost for faster delivery.
At this point I saved the cart to wishlist and emptied the cart... only to find that the cart contents had not gone to the wishlist.
I surrendered and wrote a less than complimentary critique to Newegg - that was like Wednesday evening. Late today (Friday) I finally received a boilerplate response from Newegg - essentially saying it would be referred to management for investigation - in other words buried.
At this point I am done dealing with the once great Newegg - the only criteria there seems to be wring the last overcharged nickle out of the customer - and good riddance. Send your money and do not bother us again.
What I would like to hear from others who place most of their tech orders online - what is an alternative that approaches how good Newegg once was??
I still have the order that I was attempting to place at Newegg - and there will be lots more in the future - just not at Newegg with their present management philosophy. I once was an ardent and committed Daytons shopper - stayed close when they became another name - and even attempted to stay loyal when Macy's took over. Could not stand that management path either - read yesterday that they are closing many stores and laying off thousands of employees. Guess I was not the only one who could not tolerate the greed credo of Macy's management either.
PLease help!

I can't speak for the premier thing, nor can I share any opinions regarding shipping.

I pick all of my orders up at the Will-Call center in The City of Industry here in California.

They are NOT what they used to be. They now charge for shipping, they have restocking fees, and are all together less enjoyable to deal with.

Their will call center is pretty sweet though, tons of rigs on display and peripherals to try out.

I still go to them, but go to Fry's much more often - Fry's will match Newegg's prices without batting an eye so that is nice. That said, Newegg honestly isn't even all that cheap anymore.

My biggest complaint with the current state of newegg is all the additional sellers - they are absolute garbage. It doesn't appear the sellers have to go through much vetting at all.

I have also lost a lot of faith in their brand Rosewill. Just received a lot of cheap feeling products.

Microcenter > Newegg. It's been awhile since I've ordered from Newegg (at least a year) but the service/shipping was decent but I never used there premier program or anything like that. Fortunately I've never had a shipping issue or a problem were I needed to return a product so I can't speak on there return policy.

But their site is so bad.

Honestly i think that is why newegg gets so much love anyway. That website is unbeatable. The ability to filter and sort and search by so many options is just... no other site even comes close.

Oh sorry, should of clarified. I don't order from Microcenter, I drive there and buy directly from the store. It's a bit of a drive (about 1.5 hours-one way) but taking the back roads is nice especially when I'm on the bike.

On my last order, during Cyber Monday, I chose Standard shipping. Two days later I had the new video card. No charge for expedited handling or 2nd day delivery. While I have a "local" Fry's I only use it for things I need then. The location is a nightmare to get into or out of.

I like Microcenter the best. I ordered a new GPU online from them earlier this week and specified in-store pickup (<10 mile drive). When I went to pick it up, the lady at the pickup window noticed that the GPU they had pulled from stock was the wrong one. Within 2-3 minutes they had the correct one and I was on my way. The only thing about MicroCenter is that their prices on cables, adapters, etc. are not the best. I needed a HDMI to mini HDMI adapter and they wanted about $20. I found one online for about $3.50 with free shipping. It should arrive early next week so we will see.

I 100% agree that Newegg's site can't be beat.

That's why I shop on their site, write down the part numbers (when available) and product names of what I want and then I buy from whoever has it in stock, is within 10% of the same price and is not Newegg. I often end up at a Canadian brick-and-mortar store to save on shipping/customs fees.

I've heard really good things about Fry's and Microcenter, wish we had them up here 🙁

the newegg site and selection is hard to beat. its a shame that service has been on the decline.

i like going to the microcenter stores and have always done well but selection is not quite as large though they do typically have what i'm looking for.

i am not at all happy with retailers farming out their site to additional sellers. this seems to be a trend across the web now and only makes our choices as customers more difficult. i could care less if i can get something in 2-3 weeks from a retail store website when i want to know what a store has in stock 10 minutes from my house.
