I am fixing a computer for a friend and his computer has a DVI port only. I have an HDMI monitor so I ran to Walmart and picked up a General Electric M DVI to F HDMI adapter. Got home, plugged it in, and it didn't work.
I was wondering why so when I pulled it out, I noticed that the DVI end of the adapter is faulty because one prong is out of place and wrapped around another.
I checked the port on the computer and this is how it looks. You can see on the lower input that one of those white bars that run from side to side are broken.
Did I just ruin my friend's DVI input? Pretty scared here... I'll return this and buy a different one but will this DVI input be fine?
