Question Did this fry my motherboard?

So I just put this machine together and tried to boot , which didn't happen , quick fan spin . Then as you can see in the photo the I/O shield is stuck in the HDMI slot. Could this of causes a short somewhere ?


Edit - wont let me share the image link . To clarify the bendy points on the backside of the I/O shield managed to get stuck in the HDMI port

Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Can you share your full system specs including brand and model?

And having metal things in ports isn't very good.

Thanks for the quick response, imgur is the link I tried to add . So anyway here are the specs

Ryzen 3 1200 stock cooler
Asrock b450m-hdv r4.0
16gb ddr4 3000 mhz lpx corsair vengeance
Samsung 128gb nvme
Thermaltake 600w ( low budget psu)
Radeon 6950 GPU
Antec 900 case . All molex fans ranging from 120mm and then has a huge one with 3 inch blades on it .

Hi McIeese,
you'll want to fix that I/O shield for sure, but you should also then work through a systematic checklist for what might be the problem, like so:
I doubt the shield problem is what's causing your build to not boot.
Good luck, you're probably closer than you think to nailing this.

Thanks for the motivation ! I knew there would be trouble mixing an old case and psu with a newer motherboard
