Are you asking about the Intel Core Duo CPUs for laptops released back in 2006? Or are you asking about the Core 2 Duo released for both desktops and laptops back in 2006?

There are 3 generations of the Core i3/i5/i7. The current (3rd) generation is known as Ivy Bridge.
