Difference b/t Z77 and X79 Mobos??

What is the major difference b/t Z77 and X79 mobos???

I'm new to PC-ing, forgive me...

Z77 LGA 1155 socket platform
X79 LGA 2011 socket platform
Basically use different CPU sockets.

X79 have 40 PCIe3 lanes, compared to 16 fro Z77. X79 also has support for quad channel memory (which comes from LGA 2011 CPUs), as Z77 only offers daul.
