Difference Between 2 - 1TB, and 1 - 2TB

Is there any difference between having 2 - 1TB HDDs or 1 - 2TB HDD?

Apart from a Raid option, price, I guess.

2 1tb drives will be more expensive


You will however loose less data from a drive failure if it I spread across 2 disks.

If this is for the OS then I would advice having 1 drive for OS and 1 drive for files or backups.

Yea just prices.

Now the thing is about RAID. If you do a RAID 0 yes one drive failure you will lose everything...

But if you have a single 2TB drive and it fails. You still lose everything.

If you need Write speed then two 1TB's will be faster. If its just storage just a single 2TB.

Now either way GET ANOTHER DRIVE AS BACKUP! Me i have a RAID 0 with two 2TB drives and a single 4TB drive as a backup. Let me tell you there because this happened to me yesterday.

I moved yesterday. I have a media server that has two hard drive caddys for my 2 2TB drives. I didn't pay attention and they weren't locked so when i picked it up. BAM! One drive fell out hit the floor. HARD. Drive is now dead and i got to get a new 2TB drive today lucky me i have my 4TB drive as a backup that i just did a week ago so nothing lost (Except for the 2 weeks of converting 500 movies from AVI/MKV to MP4 which isn't a big. My backup drive had everything still)

SO GET A BACKUP if its important data! You never know what will happen!
