Difference between corsair vengeance and normal DDR3 1333MHz

Hi. I am wanting to upgrade from 4 GB of ram to 8 GB ram (or possibly 16) , anyway what my question was that i currently have a DDR3 1333 MHz 4GB ram stick and am upgrading it. Should i replace it and get a Corsair vengeance 2 X 4 GB or should i get the same DDR3 1333 MHz 4 GB and add it to my existing one. And how much of a performance difference would i see if i get the Corsair one. As i saw on a video of Linus tech tips on youtube , more ram speed only results in about 0.2 - 1 FPS improvement in most modern games like BF4. Thanks in advance.

Add 4gb of the exact same ram. Switching to the corsair vengence will not make much difference. You will get tighter timings, which will add very little performance overall and cost you a lot more money. If you plan to overclock the ram then you would want the corsair vengence ram though. Generic ram does not overclock that well usually.

But would overclocking in the corsair vengeance make a difference(I don't think so personally).

Not really. Maybe a few FPS in games that are more memory dependant. The only titles that I know that are like that are codemasters racing games.

Okay, If you could please give the brand of your mobo and the 1333 ram?..

The brand/model of the 1333 RAM will let me know if they are single channel or duel. and your Mobo make/model will do the same.

I am just inferring from here - In most cases if you buy ram in pairs (duel channel), there is a slightly higher response time/throughput. The difference between 1333 and 1600 is so small its almost not worth it. But getting a duel channel and upgrading to 1600 might be. if you have the money and your Mobo supports it, i would go for the upgrade if you want to play some of the modern games.

Again i don't know your computer build so i am just inferring.

(my current computer is 16GB of ram at 2000mhz, before OC'ing and after there is almost no difference between daily computing such as opening internet and big pdf's.. but there was a big gain in gaming performance.)

My motherboard is an intel DB75EN. And the Ram is a dual channel as i searched some time ago but i don't remember it's exact model. Anyway i think to get the same stick as i would not be getting that big of a performance boost and also i am of building a beast of a PC as i would need it in about 2-3 years time. (Though i have the money but have better place to spend it now but 2-3 years from now i would be getting a new PC). Anyway thanks man!
