Are they both compatible with PCIe?

The Intel site says the regular 8265 is compatible with PCIe:

My current card is the 3165 and according to the Intel website, this uses a PCIe slot.

I am a bit confused when certain Intel cards say, "M.2: PCIe, USB"

For example, the next card up in spec, the 9260, says "M.2: PCIe, USB"

https://ark.intel.com/products/99445/Intel-Wireless-AC-9260

Presumably that isn't compatible with PCIe?

I got the 8265NGWMG

It arrived today and I installed it

Works fine

It seems to have really fixed the shitty signal I got from my old 3165

Am I correct in the way I installed it?

I swapped the 2 cable with the 1 cable, such that the 2 is plugging into the 1 slot, and visa versa

That's how my old 3165 was installed when I first opened up my laptop, with the cables swapped around
