Differences between 3pin splitter models?

My case is a DIYPC D480-BK, and my motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-F2A68HM-DS2H mATX.

The case came with five pre-installed fans and two fan controller switches. However, I'm only going to use three of the fans, and I want to hook them up to the motherboard instead of the fan controller. Except the motherboard only has two 4pin fan headers.

I'm planning on getting a 3pin Y-splitter so I can connect two fans to one header (I know 3pin connectors are backwards compatible to 4pin headers), but I've been told that I have to get the "right" type of splitter to match the fan cables.

I have no idea what kind of fans are installed in the case except that they're 120mm, and the case manual and online information don't say. All that's written on the fan power cables is "LHE, 300V 26AWG AWM" (the '6' and 'G' in 26AWG may be wrong; the print is tiny and distorted). I've tried plugging this into search engines and can't find anything relevant. I also can't find any information about "types" of 3pin cables and/or splitters.

Are the differences in 3pin splitter models really that big? If so, how can I figure out what type I need?

Thank you! I got one that looks different from the fan cable model, and it works fine. I have no idea what the person who advised me thought he meant.

Maybe he got confused or didn't get his point across very well-there are certain splitters that will have each connection operating at different capacity for example one of them will be 5v, the other 7v and last one 12v. Glad you got it sorted though.
