Different Color Screen(Black Screen)

Recently I've had an issue where I sign into windows 10 by typing in my password and then my desktop is displayed properly like normal but then after about 10 seconds it all freezes and my monitor goes black. I've system restored it for now and it's fine now but this happened to me a few weeks ago as well. Anybody have an idea of what's going on? I'm thinking it's driver related but unsure. Any advice would be appreciated .

CPU: 4790k
GPU: GTX 980 tI
Mobo: Asus z97 e

Well, if the problem was consistent, as in it pretty much always happened like you descrived , and if system restore fixed it, then yes it's likely driver related.

Although odd one, as the drivers are already all loaded on login screen. Maybe some driver related program that starts in login, quite likely graphics driver related. That would conveniently explain the 10 second delay.

You haven't installed any overclocking software by any chance, something that pushes the GPU too far? Or some other kind of graphics card related software, for example something that disables some power saving features or other stuff like that?

No i havent done any overclocking. I hope somethings not wrong with my GPU, it's too expensive!!!
