Specs: Fatal1ty z97 Killer board came with 8 g RAM. Does my upgrade to 16 gb require same mfg, of the RAM. Or should I 'start over' with 2 8gb from a single mfg, Thanks

Actually, you can use different manufacturers but it MUST have the same timings and ram speeds.

Source: I'm currently using an Asus Z97 with an 8gb kit from G. Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600mhz and another 8gb kit from Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600mhz, both kits have 9-9-9-24 timings, 1.5v. I have been running this configuration now for 3+ years and encountered no problems at all.
