is it possible to have two 4gb sticks of ram at 3200mhz and got an 8gb stick at a different speed eg 2400mhz and for the system to still function normally?

Solution
RAM purchased separately is never guaranteed to work together, but if it does it will likely need to be run at speed of the slowest stick(s) e.g. 2400 MHz.

I actually don't know what would regarding single vs dual channel if you were to put the 2x4 GB sticks in one channel and the 8 GB stick in the other. It might be dual channel, or maybe it'd run in flex mode (basically part dual channel part single channel).
