So basically im very due for a new computer:
Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2200 @ 2.20GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GT 620
4.1gb of ram
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition Service Pack 2 (build 6002), 64-bit
my resolution on my monitor is 1680x1050

and pretty much i want to get a new mid range gaming pc, most games i play are probably like world of warcraft but i own a few shooters which i cannot play since my computer is crap. i dont need high end specs/frames but i guess for at least world of warcraft i would like 60 FPS throughout Raids (i get most of the time 60 while questing but raids/BG/lots of people around i drop to 10-40fps) but still would like to try other games other than Wow without drop in frame rates.

i have three things in mind: Price range for all three options would love under $800 (last option is more than $800)

buying a mid range pc (OEM's like Asus/HP/Lenovo/Dell and such) and putting a GPU inside one of them see which GPU/CPUs i decided below

Computers in mind:

http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-IdeaCentre-Desktop-i5-4460-Processor/dp/B00K91D75A/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1405897309&sr=1-3&keywords=desktop+computer

Build my own computer: i don't know too much about computers but i own like 20 different computers in my current room that i have been taking apart and inspect/such so i would know how to install CPU/GPU/RAM/ possibly HDD/PSU so most stuff, my father can also help me with that stuff. i have heard this is the cheapest way to go but i am still not sure what parts i should get, heres some i have picked out so far: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tddzhM other CPU's i have thought of are a i5 4670/4590/4570/4430/4440 so any of these for which ever you guys think i should grab would be awesome, as for GPU i have only thought of Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 Ti boost OC or a AMD Radeon R9 270 / 270x. my dad will not let me buy a AMD CPU for his personal preference and supposedly "Experience" with AMD so that's a no no, also if you have a different CPU in mind it HAS to be a core i5, i7s are overpriced and i know that a i5 is all i need, if you have a motherboard in mind it would be awesome that i could upgrade to a i7 in the future.

Buy a prebuilt PC from Digital storm: my dad has told me that i should buy a prebuilt computer from Dog house systems but they are wayyyy too over priced its 1.3k for a i3 an i5 is almost 2k and a i7 is almost 3k, they allow you to customize if you want a little more ram for instance and they overprice that even more, going from 4gigs to 8gigs is another $100 and i know that ram is not that much money :/. so i have been doing research and i found http://www.digitalstormonline.com/ and their prices sound so much better with the different spec "levels" i am thinking of buying http://www.digitalstormonline.com/vanquish-ii.asp the level 4 version since its i5 and looks like its GPU is better than my GTX 750Ti.

Edit: also on the prebuilt computer and possibly on other motherboards i would get they have PCI Express x1 slots, if i wanted two monitors running, could i slip in a small cheap GPU to the x1 and run that monitor on low resolution so i can get max performance on the main gpu?

any thoughts/comments would be awesome for helping a brotha out thanks guys!

Hey,

If you're interested in buying one pre-built, I've configured a system for you - (http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Intel-B85-Core-i5-Configurator/W/227857) - $788.00 + shipping = $863.00

It does cost significantly more than building your own, but it's really up to you whether or not you'd like to construct the PC yourself.

Here are the specs - (There's no OS included in this pricing)

Raidmax Horus Gaming Case Black

Processor
Intel® Core™ i5-4590 Processor (4x 3.30GHz/6MB L3 Cache)

Processor Cooling

Memory
8 GB DDR3-1866 ADATA XPG V2

Video Card
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti - 2GB

Motherboard
MSI B85 G41 -- 2x PCIe 3.0 x16, 2x USB 3.0, HDMI

Power...
motherboard - any should do really if your not overclocking such as this - http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-h81mhds

gpu- id recommend nvidia cards. the gtx 750ti is a good card that isnt the best but will provide decent fps if you lower the settings on your games. Anyways new gpus are coming out all the time and can become obselete fast compared to cpu.

cpu - chose a better one for only $15 more.

psu - chose one that is 59$ (no rebate) the psu you chose is of low quality and its worth it to spend extra on your psu to not have headaches later.

windows - would really consider windows 8.1. you will get better fps in your games

Solution
Digital Storm has great builds, they have great components and great looks.

Problems:

  • -You don't know the specifics of the components, for all we know they could be incompatible in some fashion or just down right trash parts.
-WAY too overpriced. Did a little research into their builds and found that from the components that I had picked to match their build specifications the total price of parts was HALF the price of their build estimate. (labor)

with a prebuilt system, you don't get that satisfaction of "I made this awesome piece of awesome."
