directx 9 over directx 11

So recently on team fortress 2, the gun mettle update came out. within the update was decorated skins, but i could only see the stock skins since I was running tf2 in directx 8.1. My computer is running on directx 11, but when i set my hardware option in tf2, it looks like the characters dont wanna live anymore (ie. spy's revolver in his eyes, scouts legs floating behind him instead of where it should be, the decorated weapons are displayed white, etc.). help plz i would like any suggestion

You can download and run the DX9 setup over DX11, although that won't remove 11 or even make 9 the default, but it does add some files that may be missing or the wrong version for the game.
