disc drive for ripping CDs?

Hey im ripping all my old CDs and was wondering what drive would work better for me?
I have a TSSTcorp TS-L633m 0200 Drive in my laptop which is a few years old... I also have a drive for my desktop which is an internal drive, except my h440 case doesn't have a 5.25" bay to house it.. it's a

Asus DRW-24B1ST 24x drive.

I can't find any info on the laptop drive in regards to speed. I got quite a collection and this is taking forever in EAC (estimated 6hours for a 12track Cd into FLAC).
Any suggestions? is it work cracking open the PC case and running a sata out the side to hook up the drive??

WOW! K nevermind. After letting that laptop sit for another 15minutes the estimated time went up to 8hours... O.O
Ended up breaking out the case and running a ghetto wire out of the side into my disk drive..

Estimated time?.... 21 MINUTES!

Just fyi for anyone wondering the same!

Something is wrong over there. Hours? that's just insane. I don't remember taking more than 15m to burn a CD and that's WRITE. Reading, my 5 years old drive read at 54x, maybe 30x in real life but that's still plenty fast.

Well this was ripping FLACs from EAC with test&write. I know it takes quite a bit longer than itunes rips but... that was ridiculous. lol So yeah that asus drive was fine. takes 15-25mins per CD
