Does there exist a disconnect switch for any HDMI interface?

I use an HDMI converter from my laptop to my TV (S-Video/RCA) in order to stream content from my laptop to the TV; however, when I switch back to TV cable as source of viewing, the HDMI interface is still powered "on" - as the blue light on shines though out the night.

Any ideas? An no, I do not want to power off the laptop. ;-)

* Put some black tape over the light.
> Not aesthetically pleasing.

* Put a cheap power strip on the plug to the HDMI to S-video converter, and switch it off at night.
> Does not turn off the HDMI device since the laptop still powers it.

* In the display properties, disable the HDMI out display. You *might* be able to make a shortcut to do this, but I don't know for sure; let me know if you are interested in this option and maybe I can look.

* If the light goes off when you have no HDMI, signal, then you could add an HDMI switch between the laptop and the converter; then switch the input when you want to disable the signal.

Your idea about a shortcut disabling the HDMI out is a wonderful idea. I am definitely interested in this option & would appreciate your looking...
