I thought it was lifting on the 29th? I know it's in US time schedule, so it might as well be 00hrs GMT+0, but I'll keep my hopes high 😛

Cheers!

I don't know what the end of the NDA is, Yuka. ¯\(°_o)/¯ All I knew was that I'll be able to read more about the 480 on Friday. 🙂

I'm more looking forward to the reviews for the 460 though. (Hint, hint, guys.)

Tomorrow guys. As in Wednesday the 29th of June, usually midnight PST (that's California/Silicon Valley time). I'm usually asleep, so I'm not sure of the exact timing.

That's from a great Sci-fi movie called Fantastic Planet. All the humans are mice sized compared to the dominant race of blue humanoids who keep the humans as pets or exterminate them as pests. The film won the Cannes Film Festival in 1973. One of the all time classics and a great story.

While I'll take these with a grain of salt, there is no reason to compare it to a 980 as it doesn't beat the 970 in these benchmarks.

The Zotac AMP! Omega is roughly 980 performance and the one in this benchmark was overcloked even further. It's still not a proper benchmark, though. The leak came from a polish gaming magazine that has done gaming reviews for 20 years, not hardware reviews. Wait 14 more hours for proper testing.

Overclocked 970 is as fast or faster as 980- also they're comparing against a stock RX 480. I mean you can show the R9 390 faster than a stock 980 if it's OC'd to the max... Really need to compare stock vs stock, oc vs oc for a true comparison.

I remember that movie and I've tried to find it on Amazon Prime and Hulu w/o any luck. Trippy flick the humans are like cats there are domesticated ones and feral ones.

It already is happening with Vega a bit but with Zen it has been happening longer than with Polaris. Hell it was happening before Fiji XT.

Still wish it was the 16 core monster with a R9 290 GPU on die.

Why a 290? That would be awfully hot for an integrated GPU.

I don't know, they are always spouting this and that with the rumors, and if benchmarks were really legit wouldn't you expect the major tech sites to also report this stuff? Seems like WCCftech trying to suck up website views as much as possible.

It was a theorized design that at one point some people thought was Zen and then later maybe their server variant for heterogeneous computing, i.e. using GPUs along side CPUs for HPC tasks. I was just joking about it.

And I agree with you on WCCFtech. They will post ANYTHING so long as they get clicks and web traffic. They have no real self respect.

That's what WCCFTech is there for, it's a rumor site. Their job is to present the rumors, which they label as such. We as readers take it for what it's worth. In general, much of what they have covered has been pretty spot on, and they refine and update as information gets confirmed. Of course, when you have conflicting benchmarks, you need to remember the source.

an hour and change till 480 going live. I'm predicting the 480 to be 4-6% faster in dx12 Games vs the 970 and about even in dx11. Last chance everyone to put your predictions In. Person with the closest prediction gets a GOLDEN STAR!!! This is for fun so please no wet blankets.
