Hi I have a 2nd hand dell latitude 7490.
From past 2 months I am getting continuous BSOD.
Usually they are after startup when system lags and freezes.
I checked taskbar and disk usage goes 100% even when ideal after startup.
It gives BSOD usually showing Critical Process has Died.
After which it gives continuous BSOD and rarely boots me back normally.

The only fix is reinstalling windows but same issue happens after every 2or 3 days of fresh install.

Error are related to same code(0xc0000185) but only difference is that the program or file which are causing them changes.
UsbHub3.sys
ntkrnlmp.exe
ntdll.dll
Winload.efi

Things i have tried:
Installing Windows using dell Os recovery
Memtest for around 1-2 hrs but no errors
Disk utility programs like crystal disk to check disk health ( shows 100%)
I even ran linux mint on my dell ( it ended showing hd0 related error after 7-8 days)

Link to some Dump files: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-06RYl4yXe5jHbXiPomV4ESOwT4XgTOQ

System Specs:
Laptop Name: Dell Latitude 7490
Memory: 8 Gb DDR4 Ram
Storage: 256 Sata M.2 SSD
Processor: Intel i5-7300U

Can't reseat it because I don't have proper screwdriver to unscrew back cover of laptop.
I tried using a knife but 1 screw is stucked badly.
But I think SSD is placed nicely as it is tighten with a screw over it ( it's a 2.5 sata SSD small size one not bulky one)
Bios was not updated so I updated it but still BSOD occurs.
I installed all drivers from window update menu.
Second time I installed even the optional one.
Another time I installed from dell site using support assist.
Recently I installed using dell command lime software.
But everytime BSOD occurs after 2-3 days.

Alas regarding drivers i remember one thing.
I also once after installing new windows didn't connected to internet.
I used it offline didn't installed any single driver ( even display driver ) and it worked flawsely for more than 20 days.
Tho the usage was also minimal barely 1-2 hrs daily.
But Laptop started to become slow and laggy as time passed and then got BSOD continuously.
I only used to read pdf in edge browser.
Used to tranfer file using usb cable and only transferred ig once.

You might want to get a proper screwdriver so you can get access to the m.2 and also to give the innards a good cleaning.

2: kd> !error 0xc0000185
Error code: (NTSTATUS) 0xc0000185 (3221225861) - The I/O device reported an I/O error.
I would go to the dell motherboard website and update the drivers for some of the support chips on the motherboard.

one of the devices is crashing the service that reads from it.
here are some of the out of date drivers:
ApHidfiltrSW.sys Thu Jan 14 02:15:09 2021
bcmnfcusb.sys Thu Nov 21 07:02:05 2019
dcdbas64.sys Mon Jun 1 23:51:04 2015
cvusbdrv.sys Thu Nov 21 07:08:11 2019
e1d68x64.sys Thu Jun 27 00:58:38 2019
iaLPSS2i_I2C.sys Thu Apr 19 00:52:58 2018
iaStorAC.sys Tue Feb 2 00:40:51 2021
ibtusb.sys Wed Feb 23 23:52:55 2022
igdkmd64.sys Mon Nov 13 03:50:52 2023
IntcAudioBus.sys Thu Apr 16 13:24:19 2020
IntcDAud.sys Sun Nov 21 21:35:33 2021
Netwtw06.sys Tue Jun 22 10:30:24 202
RTKVHD64.sys Tue Jan 19 02:21:38 2021

looks like hid filter drivers, your motherboard sound driver, cpu sound driver, wireless driver, usb drivers, cpu graphics driver, ethernet driver, intel bluethooth driver
and dcdbas64.sys (dell base driver) I would guess this is the one that caused the bugcheck just based on the date of the driver

when you look at the dell site for drives, expand to show all of them and even show the old ones from 2023. they do not update all of the drivers every time. Most likely you updated the bios and did not pick up the extra updates
note: dcdbas64.sys used to fail verifier driver testing

Well when I went to their site and entered my service tag there are 2 categories.
Driver for this device ( my service tag)
around 25 drivers are listed.
All latitude 7490 drivers around 90 listed inside it.
Should I check drivers in all drivers list?
Because previous time I installed only from my device driver list.

Run the auto find driver tool see what it shows.

That's some noname Chinese ssd. With no support.

I'd suggest, you replace it.
BTW - your laptop supports NVME SSDs also.
You could upgrade to Samsung 970 evo.

Oh lol.
I thought maybe it's the original one.
Well I was thinking of upgrading this laptop both ram and storage.
Thinking of doing dual channel config.
But the bsod gave me tension because I am not sure if my ram is faulty or SSD.

Looking up the battery for your model Dell lists does not look like in your picture. Is that indeed your battery in the picture above the SSD.

If so is it healthy and hold a charge?

What's up with the stab marks on the lower right of battery if again that is your battery.

Can this be adding to the unstable Windows. Just asking.

Or if it's a hard drive it still looks like it took some hits.

Oh for that I just replaced that battery it got swelled pretty badly.
As I mentioned it's a pretty old picture which I took in ig march 2024.
I replaced the battery in ig june 2024.
