Question Disk usage 100%

During normal use of the PC, it sometimes happens that it becomes very slow
When that happens, i open Task Manager and order the process with maximum disk usage to check for the problem. 90% of times it is the "System" process which, even with disk at 100%, has only few MB/s of usage

This situation occurs more frequently when copying or unzipping zip/rar files: it starts normally, then after 5/6 second it goes to really low MB/s, then back to normal, then back down and so on (in these cases, WinRAR and System with low MB/s)...
This situation happens really frequently when playing certain games (for now, it happens frequently in SCP Secret Laboratory. Probably it can happen in other games). When the game start stuttering, the disk is always at 100%, with the main proccess culprit "System"
I used HD Tune for having a graphic benchmark of the SSD MB/s speed:

I tried the benchmark in safe mode: the result are the same

Sorry if i posted the thread somehow wrong. I'm new to the forum and i don't know the site very well

What OS are you using?
OS: Windows 11
How full is the disk drive?
163 GB of memory free
What apps and utilities are being launched at startup or perhaps by you thereafter?
App launched:
Krisp
Java Update Scheduler
Logitech Gaming Framework
Microsoft Edge
Windscribe

Take a look in Resource Monitor for more information about what the system is doing or trying to do.
Ok, tomorrow i'll do some test and see what i find out

As part of the testing temporarily disable those apps not immediately necessary,

Krisp, Java Update Scheduler, Logitech Gaming Framework, Winscribe.

If the problem stops then add back (if necessary) those apps one by one allowing time between additions.

You may discover that one particular app is the source of the problem.

After disabling every startup program (just for be sure, i disabled Edge too), while doing the benchmark, i kept open Resource Manager and Proccess Explorer to see which program may be the culprit. Unfortunately I have not found anything

(Don't mind too much task manager. For some reason it was showing the values only after 10/20 second, so i guess those are only average values)
The only real program that is using the disk is HDTune (181GB of bytes read total). Written Bytes values were only a couple of MB

If you run out of things to try disable the service sysmain.
Test.

Just disabled and did a benchmark. Nothing changed (for be sure, i tried to see if the service was still active after it was disabled with "sc stop "SysMain"": the service wasn't active, so it was disabled)

Question:

"The only real program that is using the disk is HDTune (181GB of bytes read total). "

This HD Tune?

https://hd-tune-pro.informer.com/5.5/

Where did you get HD Tune?

And what about WinRAR?

The reason for asking is that many sites appear to have the apps available for download. Some of those downloads may not be what you expect.

Just because, for example, "HDtunes" appears in the URL or elsewhere on the website does not mean that that HDTune is the real or current version.

Also:

"(Don't mind too much task manager. For some reason it was showing the values only after 10/20 second, so i guess those are only average values) "

Not sure what you mean but if Task Manager's responsiveness is being delayed 10 to 20 seconds that may be a clue as well.

= = = =

Try using Process Explorer to watch what is happening.

Be sure to run the tools as Admin.

Remember that in Task Manager, Resource Monitor, and Process Explorer selecting a column by its' header may cause a small upward or downward pointer to appear.

Clicking the column header with the pointer will change the sort order from ascending to descending and vice versa.

Very helpful if the presented results keep moving up and down.

(Note: You mentioned "order the process" so you may already be using the sorting. No harm in asking to be certain.)

Another thought: disable/turn off any screen savers, power savers, and indexing.

No. I'm pretty sure i've downloaded HDTune from the official website ( https://www.hdtune.com/download.html ) (i used the free version. I tried the Pro version too, but the result are the same)

And what about WinRAR?
I can't really remember where
Searching on google the only 2 site that appear purple (so the one that i've clicked) are " https://www.winrar.it/ " and " https://www.win-rar.com/start.html?&L=11 "

Not sure what you mean but if Task Manager's responsiveness is being delayed 10 to 20 seconds that may be a clue as well.
That's what i mean
How task manager is suppose to work:

Here task manager where it starts to become delayed:

Yeah i already use those. It should be viewable in the image. Is the image visible or is it not showing?
Edit: my bad, seems like only with me it shows the image (i tried in incognito mode, and the image wasn't showing)

Indexing? Never heard about that. I'm gonna try to disable that and see what comes out of it
Edit: I disabled Search Index successfully, but the disk behavior hasn't change

The BX series of drives is no powerhouse with any sort of medium to large sustained writes; as soon as it's cache is exhausted, it will rival only a slow spinning drive.

Find an MX500, or an 860EVO /870 EVO if you must use SATA. (many laptops have no M.2 NVME capabilities)
