"Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error in Windows 7

Three days ago I installed a game (World of Tanks). While i was changing some of the graphics parameters my PC frized and than the Blue Screen appeared. The computer restarted and when the desktop loaded it turned black and started having glitches than restarted again. This time i entered in safe mode and surfed the net for some solutions. I tried reinstalling the graphics drive , updated the Windows 7 checked for memory problems and this kind of things. The next time I restarted my Pc (the next day) every thing was looking fine. I lowed some of the Windows visual settings just to be sure. After that i opened google chrome and watched some videos when the screen turned black and the massage "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" appeared. I restarted the computer but the same thing happened again and again. If somebody knows what could the problem be please help me because i know that if i go in a computer fixer here in my country he will try to rip me of by convincing me that the graphics card is dead.

Windows 7 64-bit
RAM DDR2 4GB
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E7500 @2.93GHz(2 CPUs)
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GSO
(It is used for about 3 years)

It is not the card, it is the drivers if I know anything. Download driver sweeper, sweep the drivers that pertain to GeForce, THEN install again.

I tried what you suggested "Hello man" but the pc still crashes and the BSOD appears. This happens when i open any game or use Chrome for about 20 min. Also now my pc boots a lot slower. Any other suggestions ?

Try a CHdsk, you should be able to order one in Control Panel. I am on my mac right now, so it is a little hard to find the path and tell you where.

Wow. This is the worst driver issue I have seen in a while. I remember however having a similar issue with my old 7800GT in SLI. They would blue screen my XP every five min. I will ask around, see if I can find anything.

Can you go into system restore, and go back to an earlier date? You can do this from windows or your installation disk.

Before it appears the screen goes black for a few seconds, PLEASE help me very soon! Thanks. Note:I'm not a computer genius so I would need step by step instructions, if you need the specs let me know which ones and such.

all you have to do is to format your pc with windows xp not with windows 7 (because exist on bug) no one resolve this i think.
