Recently, anytime I open something in fullscreen, my screen goes black for a while. It mainly happens on Overwatch, Apex Legends and Crunchyroll, but it also happens when I fullscreen a video on Discord but not on YouTube, which confuses me. I know this can happen when you're running the game at a different refresh rate or resolution to your desktop, but I'm not doing that.

It's only been happening for the last week or so and I can't think of anything I have changed to make it so. I've tried enabling and disabling gsync, updating drivers, etc. It's annoying because if I'm playing a game and I turn my volume up or get an xbox game bar notification, my screen will go black for a while and I can't see what I'm doing.

I have an Nvidia RTX 3060, if that's important or relevant. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Solution
try a different display.
if it continues to happen then it could be an issue with the graphics card or an issue with your OS or other software.
if it doesn't continue to happen with the secondary display then you have an issue with your main display.

also try a different cable.
some can wear over time and have difficulty transmitting the data.

you can also remove all graphics related drivers & settings with DDU and then reinstall the latest package directly from Nvidia.
sometimes just updating or running a basic uninstall will still leave problematic/corrupted data behind.

I have been suggested doing a safe mode DDU reinstall of drivers before, so I'll try that after testing my cable. Unfortunately I haven't got another monitor that has a display port to test.

Fingers crossed it isn't a GPU issue!
