Display issue

I have just re installl the window vista and having a problem with half letter and lines displaying during star up.after its stuk,no windows vista display at all.only able to see the curser point.the total monitor display looking dark..any one can help???tks.

ok.tks for your rply .i am at work now .i will try this evng.But yesterday when i restart ,press f8,then enter safemode ,then its checking some files ,after the monitor display no signal..but the CPU still running.i tried to restart few times ,still same.may help me?? tks.sara.
