Display on all monitors cutting out for a second and then coming back on

Recently the display on my computer has been going black on all three of my monitors and then quickly coming back on without a loss of power. This made me think it was the graphics card, but i had recently replaced the graphics card to an Nvidia 780 and the issue started about a month or two afterwards. I read online that temperature could be an issue, but my graphics card almost never goes above 35 C. I was wondering if there is a solution and what exactly the issue is, thanks for the assistance.

What operating system are you using? If Windows, are you getting a "driver crashed" pop-up box or a similar bubble in the lower right hand corner of the screen after the display returns to normal? It sounds very much like a driver crash. Are you overclocking the GPU? Are you using some type of DVI adapter for the other monitors? What is your current driver version? Did you fully remove the old GPU drivers before installing the 780 drivers even if the old GPU was an Nvidia?

I am using windows 8.1 and i am not getting any notification of any drivers crashing or the graphics card crashing, which i had seen before with my old graphics card. I am not using any adapters for my monitors or overclocking it, so that shouldn't be the issue. Currently i am using GeForce 332.21 drivers and i have not opted for a clean install yet when i replaced the graphics card, although, I think after the graphics card was replaced I had to re install windows which should have deleted any old drivers, although, I can try re installing the drivers and choose to do a clean install.

Re-installing Windows should have removed any traces of the old driver since you basically created a brand new registry. If you were having driver crashes with the old card, it is possible that your PSU could be the cause. Is it the same PSU with both cards? What is the make, model, wattage, and +12v amperage pf the PSU? A GTX 780 needs a 42 amp +12v rail and a 600W PSU minimum. http://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/power-requirements-for-graphics-cards The wattage can be a little less as Nvidia and their vendors usually recommend much higher values than is actually required, usually around 20% more to give the system some headroom. But the +12v amperage should be taken more seriously.

That rules out the PSU not being big enough as a cause as that unit has a 80 amp +12v rail and probably enough power for two GTX 780tis let alone one. But, that doesn't mean that the PSU could still be causing the crashes. It could also be something to do with the motherboard or the PCI-E slot. Have you ever tried testing it with only one monitor to see what happens? Or only two? Have you ever tried swapping the GPU into another PCI-E x16 slot (if your motherboard has more than one) with any combination of monitors to see what happens? Do you have access to another power supply or motherboard/PC with PCI-E x16 that you can test with? Other than swapping parts around and trying less monitors, it is really a guessing game. Also, have you checked for any BIOS updates for both the GPU (from the vendor's site, not Nvidia) and the motherboard? Sometimes a simple BIOS update fixes weird problems like this.

The third monitor that i mentioned was actually a larger television connected through an hdmi cable from my graphics card and i had always noticed that it flickered on occasion and lost its connection. I never completely understood why, but after unplugging the hdmi cord from the television, i have noticed all of the flickering has stopped on all of my monitors. I am not sure if this fixed it, but i have not noticed the issue since and thank you for the suggestion.

Your not using any Adapters between your Videos Cards Outputs and your monitors are you?

You could also look in the OSD for the monitors and Factory Reset them

I had the same problem using AMD Radeon HD5450 Video Card. This card uses NVIDIA Graphics Drivers and AMD catalist software. I removed the catalist software and the problem disappeared, however this left me with a 1 inch black border all around the screen. So I put the catalist software back and removed the Dell Display manager software as the catyalist software has a feature (scaling) which allows you to fit the window to full screen. This solved the entire problem. The reason for this is a conflict between Dell Display Manager and AMD catalist software. Remove one or the other to solve your problem.
