Display Port 1.2 or 1.2a?

Ok, I have an AMD Fire Pro W2100. Do I need 1.2 or 1.2A? And are they interchangeable?

1.2a has AMD free sync. If you don't have a free sync monitor, then it makes no difference.

Are they the same size port? And what does Free Sync do.

yes same port; Freesync is new technology from AMD that eliminates screen tearing/stutter in games but you need a special monitor for that. Most likely you don't need to worry about it.

Free sync is AMD's version of g sync. Both are hybrid versions of v sync when paired with the appropriate monitors.
