Display port and Mini displayport?

So I got a Displayport cable and a mini Displayport cable for my computer (the mini DP is currently the one connected) and I was just wondering, is there any difference between the two in any noticable way? Sorry for the silly question, but I'm just curious about this, thanks in advance!

Nope, other than a full size won't fit in a port that small.

But what about Thunderbolt though? Yeah, that's a thing too, they thought it was a good idea to have it use the same port, oh Apple... They need to make money on everything it seems. I had to buy an adapter just to use a digital signal...

Oh wow XD, and isn't Apple responsible for the mini DP by the way? It seems kinda weird that I got it in the box with my 980 Ti, or did it come with my 1440p Asus monitor? Cant remember.

Yes, it can get confusing. Look for the Thunderbolt icon, that way you know it's a Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort.

Got no thunderbolt icon, so I'm gonna say its a Mini DP
