Display port not detected

Hi all. Currently I use a Inspiron 7000 gaming laptop, and recently I purchased a Y27G monitor. Hoping to use its 144hz, I brought it home and discovered naturally it needs to use a display port plug for high Hz. Unfortunately my laptop does not have one, so I bought a hmdi-dp converter plug, and used this. However not only is the laptop not detecting the monitor at all, the monitor obviously is not displaying anything, and I am quite irate. The hdmi alone works, but I didn’t spend hundreds to play on 60hz

Solution
The cable would have to be HDMI 2.1 to DisplayPort 1.4, which they do make & can support up to 4k resolution... however these cables do 60hz. I have not seen one yet that is capable of doing 144hz.

If you insist on doing the 144, you'll most likely have to get another laptop(or desktop) as the 7000 series does not appear to have a Thunderbolt 3 connector(if it did, you could use an eGPU)
