Display shuts off instead of showing input

My LG W2442PA keeps shutting down, as soon as I plug in or change to a valid input. If I boot it up, by removing a cable and having the display set to the empty slot, it will show the „missing signal“, as it normally would. But as soon as I either plug in an HDMI cable or switch to an (already plugged in) dvi slot, it shuts off and is not bootable again, unless you leave it unplugged from the power for about 10-30min. Neither changing cable nor changing video source works. What‘s wrong with the display?

@Doseq The whole screen goes black, the buzzing/humming stops and the being on indicator led turns off.
Is it possible, that a GPU can have trouble with one Display but not another? Because I tested the screen using two, otherwise working computers.

If your graphic card works with other display then it should be okay. Tell me if you can access the built-in buttons on your monitor (Settings,Menu and stuff like this) while being plugged to your computer.

The settings and volume buttons work neither with the pc plugged in nor with it not plugged in. I‘m not sure if it’s normal that the display doesn’t show the setting nor the volume with no valid input given.
The change source button and menu work with no computer plugged in and even with a computer plugged in, as long as I don’t switch to the input the computer is plugged in, in which case the monitor goes black and does nothing at all.
