I just built a pc and went from a monitor+laptop setup to just the monitor. I have a asus PB278Q 27inch 1440p monitor. HDMI and display ports. When I had my laptop hooked up, it never had an issue detecting the displayport. Or going back and forth between the display port and the hdmi which my ps4 is plugged into for that matter.
Originally when I built my pc it was fine and the monitor always picked up the DP. But now sometimes it won't and I have to unplug the cable from my graphics card and plug it back in and then it works. Perhaps it is the cable? Or the connection? I'm not sure why it worked fine for a while though.
I have all the latest drivers. Specs below:
MSI Z170A PC Mate mobo
MSI GTX 1070 X 8gb
Intel 6600k i5 3.5ghz
16gb corsair 3200 ram
evga 650 gold power supply (idk if that matters)
