Question Displayport not working

My rtx2070 wont make it to the point where i can even log into my computer using a displayport cable. When i try it shows horizontal lines where i can still makeout my screen but eventually i cant even see the loading screen and the horizontal lines just show. I hooked my gpu thru hdmi and it works just fine. Im assuming that there is a bad connection with the displayport but i have 3 different displayport slots on my gpu so im guessing its the connection on my monitor? Is there anyway i can troubleshoot this or has anyone experienced the same thing? Thanks

Yes i bought a new one and did the same thing

Can you post a picture of the lines, that would really help to determine if it is a GPU or monitor issue.

Well i just switched back to the displayport from hdmi and when i booted up no lines came up perfectly..... doesnt make any sense as an hour ago when i tried to boot up probably 10 times with my new cable it wouldnt make it past where i could even read my screen. Next time it happens i will post a picture up herenim sure it will be tomorrow. Thanks for the help
