[SOLVED] DisplayPort to DVI-D doesn’t work but vga to change works

I connected my DisplayPort to dvid cord to my gpu and monitor and got no signal. Realized the gpu was broken so I connected it to my motherboard and monitor and still no signal, afterwards I tried vga to vga from motherboard to monitor and that was working. How come the DisplayPort to DVI-D doesn’t work while the vga cord works?

• DisplayPort to DVI-D cable or adapter

If you are running multi-monitors, please describe the entire setup.

Well first guess is that your have a bad adapter. Has this worked at all before? What makes you think the video card is broken? Also if you moved the adapter to the motherboard with the card in, most motherboard disable the onboard video with a second card plugged in.
